Bristol based, we started from the humble beginning of an idea, a set of skills, a second hand van, and my wife that believed that this venture was worth a punt. My name is Barney and I am the founder and owner of Steadfast Deliveries and Furniture.
The name Steadfast was inspired by the motto of the Christian youth organisation The Boy's Brigade, which is 'Sure & Steadfast'. The Boy's Brigade played a huge role in my upbringing from the ages of 11-18 teaching me valuable life skills, but also helping mold a strong set of values that I hold close to this day. For me, The Boy's Brigade was something I could rely on, trust in, depend upon to be firm in its foundation. These are the values I want to not only live by, but also run Steadfast Deliveries and Furniture on.
In the lead up to the birth of Steadfast I had just finished three and a half years managing a second hand furniture business for a local charity. This was a very hands-on role that went well beyond just the day-to-day management of a business. I would often be out and about on the van doing deliveries and collections, furniture assembly and house moves all with willing volunteers at my side. Not only did this enhance my practical skills, it also birthed a desire to build a business and a culture that coupled the values I hold, as well as the belief in a Steadfast way of conducting business.
We are built on connection. Connection within the team from all levels, connection with the customer by humanising the experience and providing a personal service, and finally connection with ourselves. It is my hope that by being part of the Steadfast family, employees don't feel like just a figure on the staff turnover report, but are invested in and encouraged to go after the best version of themselves. I hope that customers feel like they have had a faithful and resolute experience of our service where they are greeted with a smile and are provided a service that goes beyond just a business transaction. Finally, my aim is to set a culture of connection, excellence, and encouragement.
